Settings Panel

The Settings Panel provides access to CommandHub (unified search and documentation), the Preferences Settings Hub, keyboard shortcuts, and extension information.

Preferences (Settings Hub) {#preferences-settings-hub}

One window for every Pyvoid setting, organized by category with global or per-document scope and profile support. The Panels & Toolbars category turns Pyvoid's docked panels (Output Terminal, Selection Hub, QuickHub) on or off with immediate effect; closing the Output terminal with its X now stays closed across restarts and can be re-enabled here. See Preferences (Settings Hub).

CommandHub

CommandHub is the single entry point for discovering, learning, and running every Pyvoid tool. It merges the former Command Palette and User Guide into one launcher window with a built-in guide flyout.

Launcher

A keyboard-driven command bar with real-time fuzzy search across all 200+ tools. Type a few characters, press Enter to launch.

Key features:

• Real-time fuzzy search with 6-tier relevance scoring
• Ghost text suggestions from tool names, aliases, and documentation tags
• Context-aware suggestion cards based on your recent workflow
• Category chip filtering by panel
• "What's New" section highlighting recently added tools
• Custom command aliases

Getting Started

1. Press Ctrl+Shift+P (or the Ctrl+Shift+Space alias), click CommandHub in the Settings panel, or use the current CommandHub shortcut (NU).
2. Type a search term - results filter as you type.
3. Use arrow keys to navigate results.
4. Press Enter to launch the highlighted tool.
5. Press Escape to close.

Search Syntax

Guide Flyout

A documentation panel that opens inline, inside the launcher window, with searchable guides, knowledge base content, and context-aware tool docs. Press Tab, Ctrl+J, or Ctrl+Enter to open it for the highlighted tool; press Shift+Space to expand it to full-width reading mode inside the launcher.

• Office Knowledge Base for firm and personal articles
• Context tracking with relevant docs when tools are used
• Bookmarks, reading history, and a collapsible tree-nav rail (Ctrl+B)

Configuration

Preferences

Open the Pyvoid Settings Hub to configure all tool settings in one place. Centralizes every Pyvoid preference instead of hunting through individual tool dialogs.

Key features:

• Browse settings by category (General, Naming, Layout, Detection, Export, Advanced)
• Auto-generated controls (sliders, checkboxes, dropdowns) for each value
• Save globally or per-document
• Reset individual categories to defaults

How to use:

1. Click Preferences in the Settings panel (shortcut NP).
2. Select a category from the sidebar.
3. Adjust settings using the generated controls.
4. Click Save All to commit changes.

Tab Coloring

Color-code open document tabs so each project is visually distinct. Useful when multiple Revit files are open and you need to identify which document you are working in at a glance. This is a stateful toggle - the ribbon icon reflects the current on/off state.

Key features:

• Assigns unique colors to each open document tab
• Icon reflects current state (on or off)
• Colors persist until reset

How to use:

1. Click Tab Coloring to toggle coloring on or off (shortcut Ctrl+Shift+T).
2. Shift+Click and choose "List Document Colors" to see current assignments.
3. Shift+Click and choose "Reset Theme" to clear all tab colors.

Shortcuts Manager

Customize keyboard shortcuts for all Pyvoid tools from a single interface. Shortcuts Manager reads Revit's native KeyboardShortcuts.xml, provides search and edit capabilities, detects conflicts, and writes changes back to the XML file.

Key features:

• Search all Pyvoid commands by name or current shortcut
• Assign single-key or multi-key shortcuts
• Conflict detection showing which commands share a binding
• Auto-detects the correct XML path for the running Revit version
• Export and import shortcut configurations

How to use:

1. Open Shortcuts Manager from the Settings panel.
2. Search for the command you want to bind.
3. Click the shortcut field and press your desired key combination.
4. Review any conflict warnings and resolve as needed.
5. Click Save - changes take effect on the next Revit session.

Send Feedback

Open the Pyvoid Pulse feedback form to share thoughts, report bugs, or request features directly from Revit. Crashes are captured automatically in the background when crash telemetry is enabled. Privacy: no model data or file paths are sent -- an anonymous per-machine code identifies your submission. Manage reporting preferences anytime in Settings Hub > Feedback.
