Selection Panel
The Selection Panel lives on the Pyvoid Toolkit tab and provides precision filters, memory functions, view organization tools, and advanced selection utilities. With 42 tools, it is the largest panel in Pyvoid and the one you will likely use most frequently throughout a typical Revit session.

Work with selection sets like a calculator's memory. Stored selections are project-specific and persist between Revit sessions. Use memory tools to build up complex selections incrementally, carry selections between views, or save a working set for repeated use.

Add to Memory
Adds the current selection to project memory without replacing what is already stored. Use it when building a complex selection set incrementally across different views. Select elements, then run Add to Memory (Ctrl+Shift+A) - memory persists between sessions.
Clear Memory
Clears the project selection memory. Use when you want to reset the stored selection to empty. Run the tool (QC) and memory for the current project is cleared.
Load from Memory
Recalls a previously saved selection from memory. Use when you need to re-select a specific set of elements you stored earlier. Run the tool (Ctrl+Shift+R) to select all elements currently in project memory.
Next in Memory
Selects the next element in the stored selection list. Use when cycling through stored elements one by one. Click (Q1) to select the next element; Shift+Click opens the Settings Hub.
Previous in Memory
Selects the previous element in the stored selection list. Use when cycling backwards through stored elements. Click (Q2) to select the previous element; Shift+Click opens the Settings Hub.
Remove from Memory
Removes the currently selected elements from project memory. Use to refine a stored selection by subtracting specific items. Select the items to remove, then run the tool (QK) and they are deducted from memory.
Save Memory as Selection
Saves the current selection memory as a permanent Revit Selection Filter. Use this to convert a temporary memory selection into a reusable Selection Filter for view visibility control. Run the tool (Q3) with memory populated.
Save to Memory
Overwrites project memory with the current selection. Use to save a specific selection set to memory for later recall. Select elements, then run Save to Memory (Ctrl+Shift+W) - the previous memory contents are replaced.
Purge Memory Files
Deletes all temporary selection memory files (*.pym) from disk. Use when freeing up disk space or doing a hard reset of every project's stored memory. Run the tool (Q4) - all memory files are removed.
Precision Pick and Select
Narrow your selection to exactly the elements you need without manually filtering afterward.
Pick -- Precision Selection
Select elements by category without picking up unrelated geometry. Pick opens a category-aware picker that filters clicks to only the category you choose -- no need to Tab-cycle or post-filter. The dropdown includes Pick Detail Elements (keep only 2D detail items) and Pick Model Elements (keep only 3D model elements).

How to use:
- Click Pick and choose a category from the popup.
- Click or box-select elements in the view -- only elements of the chosen category are selected.
- Press Escape or right-click to finish.
Filter Tools
Refine an existing selection by removing elements that do not match a condition. Select a broad set first, then apply one or more filters to narrow it down.

Select By Type
Expand a small selection to all instances of the same family, type, or category. Start by selecting one or more representative elements, then use these tools to find every matching instance.

Select By Condition
Select elements based on their relationships, tags, or other conditions rather than spatial picking.

Select Revision Clouds
Selects all Revision Clouds associated with a specific Revision. Useful when bulk editing comments or parameters for every cloud in a single issuance.
Key features:
- Picks a Revision from a list and selects all of its clouds at once
- Scoped to the current model
How to use:
- Run the tool (
Q6). - Select a Revision from the list.
- All clouds for that revision are selected.
Select All Clouds with Same Comment
Selects every Revision Cloud in the model that shares the same Comments value as the currently selected cloud. Useful for finding all clouds marked with a specific note (for example, "Coordination Issue").

Commentsparameter across the whole model - Works from a single seed cloud
How to use:
- Select a single revision cloud that has a comment.
- Run the tool (
Q7). - All matching clouds are selected.
List Selection as Clickable Links
Generates a report of the selected elements with clickable Element IDs. Useful for navigating through a list of elements one by one using the Pyvoid output window.
Key features:
- Clickable Element IDs route to each element in the active view
- Works on any selection, not just revision clouds
How to use:
- Select the elements you want to list.
- Run the tool (
Q5). - Click an ID in the output window to zoom to that element.
View Controls
X-Ray -- Visibility Diagnostics
Diagnose why elements are invisible or displaying incorrectly instead of guessing at Visibility/Graphics (VG) settings. X-Ray runs a battery of 13 condition checks -- VG overrides, view filters, phasing, worksets, crop regions, view range, Design Options, and more -- against an element-view pair, then presents prioritized results with one-click fixes. Includes X-Ray Vision mode that temporarily reveals hidden elements using transaction rollback.

- Priority-sorted results showing the most likely cause first
- One-click fixes for common issues (unhide element, adjust VG, enable workset)

Getting Started
- Select an element that is invisible or displaying incorrectly (use a linked view, schedule, or element ID if you cannot click it directly).
- Open X-Ray from the Selection panel (or press
Ctrl+Shift+X). - Review the diagnostic results -- the highest-priority cause appears at the top.
- Click Fix next to a result to apply the correction (for example, unhide the element or enable its workset).
- Use X-Ray Vision to temporarily reveal all hidden elements in the view for context.
- Switch to Compare mode to diff two views and find configuration differences.

Tips
- Start with X-Ray whenever an element is missing from a view -- it is faster than checking VG manually.
- Use Compare mode when an element shows in one view but not another to find the exact setting difference.
- X-Ray Vision does not commit any changes -- it uses transaction rollback, so your model stays clean.
Isolate -- Category Isolation
Quickly focus on a single category without navigating the VG dialog. Isolate opens a popup menu of categories present in the active view. Select a category to temporarily isolate it; select "Reset" to restore full visibility.
Set Workset
Assign selected elements to a different workset via a dropdown picker. Select elements first, then run Set Workset and choose the target workset from the list.
View Toggles
Toggle persistent view behaviors on and off. These tools use the SmartButton pattern - the icon state reflects whether the feature is currently active.
